A/B test: show shipping cost and delivery time below the price

If you show the shipping cost and delivery time right below the price, then you will get more orders, because it is the question most people carry into the cart and the one that makes them abandon it there.

By Fernando Blanco Dosil · Updated November 2, 2026

Why it might work

A €39 price is not really a price until you know what it costs to get it and when it arrives. Plenty of people add to cart just to find out, and if the answer is "€5.95 and 3 to 5 days", they close the tab. That is not really cart abandonment: the doubt started on the product page.

One line below the price, "Shipping €3.95 (free over €49) · Arrives in 1 to 2 days", answers it before it grows. If your shipping is good, you are hiding it. If it isn't, at least it is not a surprise at the end.

How to set it up

In Bixlow you describe the change to the agent, it builds it on your site and launches it as an A/B test once you approve it.

  1. Write the line with exact figures: cost, free shipping threshold if you have one, and delivery time.
  2. In the variant, place it right below the price, before the variant selector and the button.
  3. Apply it to every product page. If delivery time depends on the product, use each one's or leave it out.
  4. Run it for all traffic and measure all the way to the order, not just the cart.

FAQ

Shipping cost next to the price

What if showing the shipping cost scares people off?

Add-to-carts may drop. That is why orders are the primary metric: if the people leaving earlier are the ones who would have left at checkout anyway, you lose no sales.

Delivery time or a date?

Start with whatever you can always deliver on. "Arrives Thursday" is easier to understand than "1 to 2 days", but only if your logistics can guarantee it.

Should it go on the listing too?

Not in this test. On listings it is enough to flag which products ship free; the full detail belongs on the product page.
