Cookie policy

This policy explains which cookies the Bixlow website and app use, what they are for and how you can manage them. It also explains what the runtime our customers install on their websites stores in the browser.

What cookies are

Cookies and similar technologies (such as localStorage) are small files or pieces of data a website stores in your browser. Technical ones are needed for the website to work and do not require your consent. Analytics ones are only enabled if you accept them.

Cookies we use

Google Tag Manager only loads after you accept analytics. Without that acceptance, Bixlow does not load the Google container or send its analytics events. This permission does not enable Google advertising storage, advertising user data or ad personalisation signals. Essential cookies remain necessary to provide the service. The cookies present from the table depend on the features you use.

How to manage them

You can accept or reject analytics using the banner buttons. “Cookie settings” on this page withdraws your previous permission and shows the choice again. If Google tags were already loaded, the page reloads to stop them and removes known first-party Google analytics and advertising cookies accessible from this website. This does not delete data already sent or cookies on other domains; manage those in your browser settings. Withdrawal does not affect prior processing. Blocking essential cookies may prevent you from signing in.

The runtime on our customers' websites

The bixlow.js runtime uses localStorage and sessionStorage on the origin where it runs. Device storage and access rules apply to these technologies even though they are not cookies. Identifiers are pseudonymous. localStorage has no automatic expiry: it remains until the browser, user or application removes it. sessionStorage lasts for the tab session and may return when the browser restores that session.

Customers must explain purposes, retention and recipients and, where required, obtain consent before loading the runtime and prevent further execution after withdrawal. Bixlow’s banner does not manage consent on customers’ websites. Customers are also responsible for additional storage introduced by their workflows.

NameStoragePurpose
bixlow_visitor_uuidlocalStorage (persistent)Random visitor identifier to count unique visitors and conversions.
bixlow_visitor_first_seenlocalStorage (persistent)Date of the first visit, to tell new from returning visitors.
bixlow_exp_*localStorage (persistent)Variant assigned in each A/B test, so the visitor always sees the same one.
bixlow_session_ctxsessionStorage (cleared when the tab closes)Where the visit came from (referrer, UTM, landing page) during the session.
bixlow_preview, bixlow_preview_flow, bixlow_preview_versionsessionStorage (cleared when the tab closes)Only when previewing from the editor: which workflow version to show.

We will update this policy if the cookies we use change. If you have questions, write to bixlow@plakastudio.com.
